Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, has not invested in Bitcoin. He said in a live chat on the Clubhouse social network. Host Andrew Sorkin told Bill Gates that he wanted to invest in businesses that produce products, citing malaria vaccines as examples. He did not pick his assets depending on whether they would be worth more to anyone, the billionaire said.
In an earlier interview, he addressed the passion for the virtual currency of Tesla founder Elon Musk. My general idea would be that you should actually lookout if you have less money than Elon,’ he said to Bloomberg. Elon’s got lots of bitcoins, and he’s really sophisticated, so I’m not worried that his Bitcoin is going to go up or down at random.
After Tesla announced it had bought $1.5bn of the currency and expected to accept it as payment, Bitcoin’s value soared almost 50 percent, but it later fell by 20%. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has described the currency as an incredibly inefficient way of performing transactions. Bill Gates has been skeptical about Bitcoin for a long time.
